OUR PEOPLE

Arcangela Gangemi

Arcangela Gangemi is a senior legal practitioner specialising in family law, deceased estates and estate planning. Admitted to the legal profession in 1983, Arcangela’s highest priority is the protection of her client’s interests.

Using her extensive experience in family law and deceased estates, she is a strong and protective advocate for her clients should their matters proceed to litigation.

Louis Durand

Louis Durand is a legal practitioner with a wealth of experience across many areas of the law. Since his admission to the legal profession in 1985, he has represented clients in primarily civil, criminal, restraining order and civil matters, though his knowledge and talents extends to many other areas of the law.

Anthony Durand

Anthony Durand has represented clients in the Magistrates Court, District Court, Family Court and Supreme Court. Anthony provides advice primarily in the areas of criminal law, deceased estates, civil law, Restraining Order law and family law.

He is a general legal practitioner who represents clients in a wide variety of matters. He presents a friendly and dedicated approach to clients.

Durand Gangemi can manage deceased estates on behalf of an executor or administrator from the initial application for a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration until the Estate is completely finalised.

We can protect the assets of the Estate and ensure that that all Estate matters are finalised and all beneficiaries receive their entitlements as efficiently as possible.

The benefit to the clients of Durand Gangemi is that we are a general legal practise. Should your family law matters require for example a Restraining Order, or alterations to your Will, you will not need to brief your matter to another law firm.

  • Applications for Grants of Probate or Letters of Administration and Estate Management

When a loved on passes on, in most cases a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration must be obtained before their Estate can be distributed. Durand Gangemi can manage deceased estates on behalf of an executor or administrator from the application for a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration until the Estate is completely finalised. We can protect the assets of the Estate and ensure that that all Estate matters are finalised and all beneficiaries receive their entitlements as efficiently as possible.

  • Inheritance challenges

If you have been left out of the Will of your partner, or your parent, you may be entitled to claim a portion of their estate. This is a complicated area of the law and Durand Gangemi can advise you on your likely entitlements and your best course of action.

Durand Gangemi can advise you on the best way for you to give effect to your wishes after you pass on, and can draft your will. We can draft simple Wills, and more complex Wills involving Testamentary Trusts. Advice can also be given on the risks of a challenge to your Will or claim under the Family Provision Act 1972 (WA).

  • Enduring Powers of Guardianship and Administration, and Advanced Health Directives

These are the documents that will allow you to control the ways in which your financial, property and health matters will be looked after as you age. Durand Gangemi can advise you on and draft these for you, as well as registering them with the appropriate government bodies and providing certified copies where necessary.

If you are under criminal investigation or have had charges laid against you Durand Gangemi can advise you of your rights and obligations under the law. We provide as full a criminal law service as you may require, from initial advice through to full trials in all Western Australian courts.

Due to age or ill health some of Durand Gangemi’s clients cannot make it to our office to complete the signing of vital documents, such as Wills. We can organise to attend at the home or hospital room of clients to take instructions and finalise the signing of documents. We ensure that all witnessing requirements for the documents are complied with in these situations.

We can provide you with simple to follow advice on what your rights and entitlements are to property under the Property Law Act 1969.

  • Tenancy Law

Durand Gangemi can provide advice on your obligations as a tenant or a landlord under the Residential Tenancies Act 1987. We also provide advice and draft the necessary documents should you wish to take a Residential Tenancies Act matter to Court.

  • Leases

Durand Gangemi can provide advice on and draft commercial leases for both tenants and landlords. We can negotiate on your behalf with the other party to settle the terms of a lease to protect your best interests. If you are involved in a lease that the other party is in breach of we can advise you on your options and, if necessary, progress the matter to Court.

  • Conveyancing

Durand Gangemi offers conveyancing services for property transactions.

Durand Gangemi can advise and represent people who are applying for Restraining Orders, and those who are opposing them from providing initial advice all the way through to a Final Restraining Order Hearing.

You may be entitled to Criminal Injuries Compensation if an offence has been committed against you. Criminal Injuries Compensation is paid to you by the State Government, so you can be compensated even where an offender has no assets.

Durand Gangemi can advise you on your rights, organise the evidence and reports, and draft your Criminal Injuries Compensation claim.
